Police said when the college commenced for the day, a section of the students abstained from classes and attempted to resort to a road roko agitation on the Tiruchi-Dindigul national highway to protest against the management's refusal to concede their demand to begin the classes early.
Despite repeated requests from polce, the students did not disperse and at one stage it was alleged that the students threw stones at the police.
