Hooda urges people to adopt small family norm
Chandigarh, July 10 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today urged the people to adopt small family norm and help in stabilising the increasing population.
In a message issued here today, on the eve of World Population Day, Mr Hooda said a Population Commission had been set up inn the state under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister.
The National Family Welfare Programme was being implemented to check growth of population in the state by focussing on points mentioned in the National Population Policy 2000, he said.
Also, Health and Education Departments had implemented programmes to educate the people about affects of increasing population.
He said the National Family Welfare Programme had received tremendous support from the people in Haryana. By planning small family, one could contribute to the plans like eradication of poverty and check unemployment.
"The World Population Day is not merely a reminder to effectively check the fast growing population, but is also a resolve to generate awareness about the problems of population explosion", he added.
