Challan against police officer presented in Kashmir court

Srinagar, Jul 10 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Vigilance Organisation (VO) today filed charges against a police officer in a local court in a corruption case.

A VO spokesman said Manzoor Ahmad Dar, Assistant Sub Inspector, then posted in Rainawari police station was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 1000 on February 10 this year.

Giving details about the case, he said one Mohammad Hussain Bhat lodged a written complaint with the VO on February 10,2008 alleging that Dar was demanding illegal gratification for not conducting a search in the houses of his sister and friend.

The tainted money was recovered from the possession of the ASI in the presence of independent witnesses. The hand and pocket wash of the accused was conducted which tested positive.
