Suguna announces expansion plans, forays into retail trade

Chennai, July 9 (UNI) Suguna Group, India's largest poultry enterprise, would soon retail mutton, fish and a range of ready to cook and ready to eat chicken products.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr B Soundararajan, Managing Director said the company would launch ready to cook and ready to eat chicken products by the end of this month at its retail outlets.

The company's one of the two processing units in Bangalore had been converted at a cost of Rs six crore, for the purpose of making ready to cook and ready to eat chicken products. To begin with, the company would come out with 10 to 12 products, he said.

Announcing the launch of Suguna's "Daily Fressh," the first retail outlet of a chain of quality chicken retail stores in the city, he said the company had started 15 such outlets in Coimbatore and it was buoyed by the success.

In the next three to four months, 40 to 50 shops would be started in the city and 150 shops in Tamil Nadu and Kerala by the end of this year, through the franchise route, he said.

Suguna was India's largest poultry enterprise with a turnover of Rs 2,000 crore and the company was setting apart Rs 400 crore every year for expansion plans, Mr Soundararajan said.
