State to implement mid-day meal scheme in schools
Mumbai, July 9 (UNI) The Maharashtra government will implement the national programme of mid-day meals in schools for the benefit of students studying in sixth to eighth standards.
A decision to this effect was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh here today.
Under the scheme, the students will be provided mid-day meals that assure of 700 calories and 20 gm proteins.
The total expenditure for implementing the scheme will be Rs 242.70 crore out of which the State's share will be Rs 49.99 crore.
