Left formally withdraws support to UPA Govt

New Delhi, July 9 (UNI) The Left parties today handed over a letter to President Pratibha Patil, formally withdrawing support to the UPA Government.

Another letter was also handed over, requesting the President to direct Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to seek a confidence vote in the Lok Sabha immediately, CPI (M) General Secretary Prakash Karat told reporters after a 15-minute meeting with the President.

Apart from Mr Karat, the general secretaries of CPI, Forward Bloc, and RSP were also present at the meeting.
