Govt will win confidence vote: PC

Chennai, July 9 (UNI) Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram today exuded confidence the Congress-led UPA Government would survive the confidence vote following the withdrawal of support of the Left Parties.

In an informal chat with newspersons here after laying the foundation stone for a new building of Indian Bank here, he said ''we firmly believe the government will survive and we will prove our majority.'' Mr Chidambaram rejected a suggestion that there could be early election to the Lok Sabha. ''There is no scope for early election,'' he said.

The present economic situation would soon be streamlined and the higher rate of inflation brought down, he added.
