Four Dalits killed in violent group clash

Jaipur, Jul 9 (UNI) Four Dalits were shot dead in a violent clash with a group of higher castes in Dhondekapura village in Dholpur district today, police sources said.

A tiff over an old land dispute involving people of Jatavs, a Dalit community, with people of Gujjar and Thakur communities, took an ugly turn with the latter using firearms, the sources said.

The victims were going to work, under the National Rural Employment Gurantee Scheme (NREGS), in a group of eight to ten people when the opposite group stopped them, killing four.

District Police Superintendent and District Collector rushed to the spot.
