Two elephants get a fresh lease of life in Orissa
Satuli Village (Orissa), July 9 : Residents in Orissa's Satuli village turned good samaritans and rescued two elephants from a possible death by drowning.
The village, which is close to the Ganjam Forest Division, often faces a rampage by wild elephants.
However, recently, two elephants were found trapped in a water tank. The forest authorities were immediately informed and the elephants were rescued.
India has nearly half of the world's 60,000 Asian elephants, but conservationists say their population has fallen rapidly in recent years due to a loss of habitat due to human encroachment.
