Christie Brinkley plans to start life afresh in California

Washington, July 9 : Former supermodel Christie Brinkley plans to leave her New York home and start a new life in California post her painful divorce trial.

The model's high-drama divorce from Peter Cook, currently being played out in a Manhattan courtroom, has seen her estranged husband accused of adultery and of hiding an expensive pornography habit.

Brinkley, 54, now hopes to attain full custody of her two children Jack, 13, and sailor, 10, so she can sell the family home and move to the west coast, in a bid to vanquish all the bad memories of her marriage.

"Christie wants to start afresh post her nightmarish divorce, as a single mum and put all this behind her," Contactmusic quoted Jill Rappaport, a close friend of the catwalk beauty, as saying.

"We're all praying the judge agrees to give her the sole custody of her children.

"The kids have been deeply, deeply scarred by all this too," she added.
