Bus-truck collision kills about 20 people in Jharkhand

Ranchi, Jul 9 (UNI) About 20 people were feared killed and several others critically injured, when a mini-bus carrying them collided with a heavily-loaded truck on the Ranchi-Ramgarh highway at Palu under Ormanjhi police station, about 25 km from here, today.

The Ranchi-bound bus coming from Ramgarh plunged into a gorge, police said, adding swathe of scraps being carried by the truck fell on the bus leaving thin chance of survival for another about 15 passengers still trapped in the wrangled vehicle.

The rescue operation was hindered by downpour, police said adding the exact figure would be known after completion of the operation.

Besides, the scraps totally heaped on the bus rendered the task more difficult, the sources said.

However, eyewitness feared that the the toll might go up.
