Town Planning Asst. Director arrested on bribery charges

Bangalore, Jul 8 (UNI) Chamarajanagara Town Planning Assistant Director was arrested today by Lokayuukta sleuths for accepting bribe for showing official favour.

According to a press release by the Lokayukta here, Syed Jaffer had demanded Rs 5000 bribe from the complainant Mohan to permit him to form a layout in 23.75 guntas of land owned by him.

After stiff bargaining, the Assistant Director had agreed to accept Rs 2,500 to grant permission to form the layout. But Mohan was not willing to pay the bribe money and approached Lokayukta who laid a trap and arrested Syed Jaffer while accepting the money.
