Special court reserves its judgement till tomorrow
Mumbai, Jul 8 (UNI) A special court today reserved its judgement till tomorrow, in the riot case of 1992 involving Shiv Sena leader Madhukar Sarpotdar, registered at Nirmal Nagar police station in western suburbs.
After hearing the final argument of both the sides, Metropolitan Magistrate R C Bapat-Sarkar reserved its judgement till tomorrow.
Six persons -- Ashok Shinde, Jayant Parab, Ms Umeshi Pawar, Madhukar Sarpotdar, Shantaram Shavlekar and Pradeep Khanvilkar -- were booked in the case for allegedly giving provoking speech, unlawful assembly and rioting.
According to the prosecution, on December 27, 1992, Sarpotdar, then MLA, had addressed a gathering of Shiv Sainiks and made a provocative speech that had sparked violence.
