Shopkeeper killed in dispute over worn out currency note
Hisar, Jul 8 (UNI) Refusal to accept a worn out currency note from a customer cost a shopkeeper his life.
Naveen, a young shopkeeper, was stabbed to death when he refused to accept a worn out currency note of Rs 50 from a customer who wanted to purchase cigarettes last night in Luxmi Market near Pul Teliyan here.
Denial to accept the tattered note resulted into argument between the customer, who was allegedly drunk, and the shopkeeper.
Following the heated row, the customer and his friends took out daggers and knives and attacked the shopkeeper.
When Naveen's friend Vijay, who was present there, tried to pacify the miscreants they attacked him also.
Naveen succumbed to his injuries on the spot while Vijay is lying in the hospital in serious condition.
Meanwhile, demanding the arrests of the culprits who absconded after the incident, the irate traders and shopkeepers today carried the dead body of Naveen to the main road and blocked the traffic. The traders also gave a call for strike.
