Seek trust vote or resign: INLD tells UPA
Chandigarh, Jul 8 (UNI) The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), a constituent of the UNPA, today asked the UPA government to seek trust vote or resign.
INLD president and former Haryana Chief Minister Om Parkash Chautala said the Manmohan Singh government came into power with the support of left parties and it had lost its majority after withdrawal of support by these parties. Now it should prove its majority on the floor of the house, he added.
Mr Chautala said Dr Manmohan Singh should follow the example of Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, who resigned yesterday only after his coalition partner PDP withdrew support from his government.
He said after being reduced into minority, the UPA government had lost its moral right to be in power and it should announce immediate elections.
INLD chief said the people of the country were suffering due to spiralling prices, deteriorating law and order, scarcity of water and electricity but the government was obsessed with the nuclear deal.
He said the government should focus on the basic issues and also clarify on the objections raised by the political parties on the nuclear deal. He said the eagerness being shown by the Congress government to push nuclear deal had raised many doubts among the minds of the people.
