NZ NCC shooting camp begins in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, Jul 8(UNI) The North Zone Shooting Coaching Camp of NCC began at Patiala-ki-Rao firing ranges here today.

Brig Rajindra Singh, Deputy Director General Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh NCC Directorate inaugurated the coaching camp.

Around 120 NCC cadets from UP, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh have been selected to undergo advance level coaching camp.

The aim of the camp is to impart advance coaching for precision shooting and prepare the cadets for All India Govind Vallabh Pant Mavalankar Shooting Championship and National Shooting competitions.

It is to the credit of the NCC that in the last edition of National Shooting competitions it won total of 38 medals and was second to the Army team.

Speaking on the occasion, Col M S Chauhan, the Chief Coach of the camp, said that larger aim of the NCC was to produce national and international level shooters. NCC is providing cadets with imported Anschutz Rifles, imported ammunition, shooting jackets and other kit in this advanced coaching camp, he added.

This is the last camp before the Inter Directorate Championship and then the DG NCC team will be selected for participation in the national shooting competitions. The cadets have shown great skills and enthusiasm in grasping the basics of precision shooting during the various camps held at Chandigarh.
