Narcotics worth Rs 1.38 cr seized, two Nigerians among 4 nabbed
Mumbai, Jul 8 (UNI) The Anti Narcotic Cell (ANC) of city police here today seized drugs narcotics--cocaine and herion--worth Rs 1.38 crore in the international market, and arrested four people, including two Nigerian nationals, in two incidents.
Two Nigerian nationals, believed to have links with the international drug mafia, were arrested, after 280 gm of cocaine worth Rs 1.25 crore in the international market, was seized from their possession.
In the other incident, the ANC arrested two persons and seized from them 2.820 gm of hasish worth Rs 13 lakh in the international market.
Addressing mediapersons here today, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Vishwas Nangre Patil said acting on a tip-off that the Nigerian nationals were actively involved in selling of cocaine in South Mumbai, the Anti Narcotic Cell (ANC) had laid a trap at two places -- at Eros theater and Regal cinema -- in South Mumbai, and nabbed Rajjark Oriyomi alias Aayub alias Abdul (35) and Yammi Mobalaji Olaniye (22) and sezied 250 gm and 30 gm of cocaine respectively from their possession.
However, two other accused in this case were absconding.
He said Oriyami had earlier been arrested in another drug case in 2000, when he came to India on a tourist visa. He was sentenced to six years imprisonment by a special court. After completing the sentence, he was again active in supply of drugs in the city.
Elaborating the modus operandi, Mr Patil said in this case, the two absconding accused -- a brother, sister pair -- had brought the cocaine from South America to India by concealing it on their bodies.
After reaching the country, the duo handed over the cocaine to the arrested accused.
In the second incident, the ANC arrested two people -- Pintu Singh Laxman Singh (23) and Hari Santu Paswan (25) -- and seized from them 2.820 gm of Hasish worth Rs 13 lakh in the international market.
Acting on information that Singh and Paswan would be coming to deliver hashish to a party at Dharavi in North Central Mumbai, the ANC sleuths laid a trap and arrested the duo, he added.
