Iron Ore laden ship grounded; 21 crew rescued
Paradeep, Jul 8 (UNI) The Paradeep Port Authority has rescued 21 crew members from an iron ore laden Panama ship ''Golden Star'', which drifted towards the shallow areas and was grounded following a technical snag on Saturday last.
Port sources said the ship carrying nearly 21,400 tones of Iron Ore, was on its way to China in the Bay of Bengal when the incident took place.
Deputy Conservator of Paradeep port G P Biswal today said the 21 crew members hailing from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and India were rescued after the ship remained aground for the last three days.
The Port authority refloated the ship by repairing the technical snag with the help of experts.
