Debt-ridden farmer commits suicide in K'taka

Gulbarga, Jul 8: A debt-ridden farmer allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree at Hulachera in Chincholi taluk of this district last night.

Official sources said Siddalinga Reddy (26), who had taken loan of Rs 50,000 from a nationalised bank and money lenders, could not repay it due to damage of crops following rains.

Disgusted, he went to his field and hanged himself from a tree.

This was the second incident of a farmer committing suicide in Chincholi taluk and third in the district in the last 20 days.
