Curfew relaxed at several places in Jammu

Jammu, Jul 8 (UNI) Curfew was relaxed at several places in Jammu region today as the administration eased restrictions in the winter capital including Bhaderwah, Samba and Kathua towns.

''Curfew relaxation was ordered in Jammu city from 0700 hrs to 1200 hrs, Bhaderwah from 0800 hrs to 1200 hrs, Kathua from 0700 hrs to 0900 hrs, and Samba from 0800 hrs to 1000 hrs,'' an official spokesman told UNI.

The authorities were observing the situation periodically.

Two people lost their lives and hundreds were injured during the ongoing agitation in the Jammu region against the revocation of land transfer order to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB).

The curfew was imposed in Jammu after massive protests on the controversial land issue on Tuesday last, which was extended to other towns of the region.

In support of the ongoing bandh call given by the saffron parties, shops and other establishments in the remote areas of the region remained closed, reports said.
