Couple trampled to death by wild elephant

Angul, Jul 8 (UNI) A couple was today trampled to death by wild elephant who sneaked into Pukunda village from the nearby Satkoshia sanctuary.

Sources said one Lata Sita(44) of Pukunda village had gone to the field when she confronted a wild elephant.

Panicked on seeing the elephant from such close range, Lata rushed to the house but the elephant followed her. She was soon trampled to death by the pachyderm.

Lata's husband Madan rushed to save his wife, but he was too attacked by the elephant and died on the way to hospital.

The wild tusker later fled. The forest officials on being informed about the incident, rushed to the village and sent the bodies for post mortem.
