TDP will lose 'opposition status' after elections: Minister
Hyderabad, July 7 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Informaton and Public Relations Minister Aanam Ramanarayana Reddy today claimed that the Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) would lose its 'opposition status' after the next general elections in the state.
In a statement here, he said the TDP would ''disapper'' from the state once cine actor Chiranjeevi launched his new political party.
Stating that TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu had ''lost the confidence'' of the people after 2004 elections, he said prominent leaders of the party were deserting the party ''as they had no faith in its leadership.'' The Congress would not face any threat with the launch of the new party by Chiranjeevi as the party was in a ''strong position'' under the leadership of Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, he added.
