Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi's health improves

Kolkata, Jul 7 (UNI) The condition of Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi, who fell ill yesterday, was stable today, but doctors said he would be kept under observation for a few more days.

''His condition is stable now. He has normal pressure and hardly any complaints. But we need to keep him under observation for few more days,'' a spokesperson of Apollo Gleneagles Hospital, where the minister was admitted late last night, said.

The minister's wife Deepa Dasmunsi said he had his breakfast in the morning and was ''perfectly OK''. He was also likely to be shifted to a cabin from the ICU, she informed.

Mr Dasmunsi complained of chest pain and breathlessness while returning to Raigunj, his constituency in North Dinajpur district, after attending a party meeting at Malda.

He was admitted to Raigunj Sudivisional Hospital and was attended by a team of doctors. Later he was brought to Purnea in Bihar and was flown to Kolkata.

Hospital sources said a team of specialist doctors were attending Mr Dasmunsi and monitoring his condition.

West Bengal Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi visited the ailing Union Minister at the hospital this morning and wished him quick recovery.

Many politicians and sportspersons, including P K Banerjee, also visited HIM.

The minister is also the president of the All India Football Federation.
