No uncertainty over impending Railway projects: Velu
Bolpur, Jul 7 (UNI) Union Minister of States for Railways R Velu today ruled out the fall of the UPA government and assured that the sanctioned projects in the Railway budget would be implemented accordingly.
After visiting Prantik to make an on the spot inquiry for its railway connectivity with Suri, Mr Velu assured that the uncertainty facing the Centre would not be an impediment to the projects in pipeline, previously sanctioned in the Railway Budget.
'' The proposals would be carried out since they were directly under the Centre, irrespective of the party heading the government,'' he said.
Mr Velu said the proposal for the 34-km railway connection between Prantik and Suri, entailing an investment of Rs 98 crore, had been sanctioned in the Rail Budget and forwarded to the Planning Commission. The work would start after obtaining the latter's nod, he added.
The minister also met Viswabharati University Vice-Chancellor Rajat Kanta Roy in Santiniketan.
