Mah Govt to develop tourist places: Patil

Kolhapur, Jul 7 (UNI) Maharashtra Tourism Minister Vijaysinh Mohite-Patil today said the state government has plans to develop various tourist places, including historical monuments, with a view to boost tourism in the state.

Talking to reporters here, Mr Mohite-Patil said the prominent places to be developed included Annabhau Sathe's monument at Vategaon in Sangli district, Savitribai Phule's 'smarak' at Naygaon in Satara district, Ahilyabai Holkar's at Chaundi in Sangli district, Dr B R Ambedkar's at Ambavade in Ratnagri district and Mahatma Phule's at Wanvadi in Pune district.

He said the renovation work is underway at 62 holy places in Kolhapur district. Among them is the historical Panhala fort at Khidrapur, for which the state has made a budegtary provision of Rs 7.3 crore. Apart from that, Rs 1.63 crore has been allocated to develop the historical Bhavani mandap area in the city.
