Governor accepts Azad's resignation

Srinagar, Jul 7 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra today accepted the resignation of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad who stepped down without facing the vote of confidence in the Assembly.

Official sources said Mr Vohra, however, asked Mr Azad to continue till an alternative arrangement is made.

Mr Azad submitted his resignation to Mr Vora immediately after he withdrew his motion of confidence in the House without going for voting.

Experts here said Mr Vohra will now call the single largest party in the state the National Conference (NC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other smaller parties to seek their viewpoint on the situation in the state.

They said the Governor will seek their opinion if any of these parties was in a position to form the government in the state.
