Dasmunshi admitted to Kolkata hospital

Kolkata, Jul 7: Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi, who fell ill at Raiganj in North Dianjpur district on Sunday, July 6 was admitter to a city hospital after being flown here late in the night.

Doctors, attending on him at the private hospital, said the Minister was stable but required further investigations and observation. Mr. Dasmunsi, who was returning from Malda after attending a party meeting, complained of breathlessness on the way to Raiganj. He was immediately admitted to a local hospital where a five-member team of doctors attended on him.

''He has been shifted here for better treatment. He had some problem of indigestion. He also developed a minor cardiac problem,'' Pradesh Congress Vice President Subrata Mukherjee said.

Mr. Dasmunsi's wife and Congress legislator Deepa Dasmunshi, a medical team and some other party leaders accompanied him from Raiganj.

A medical unit was ready at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International airport to meet any emergencies.

Congress sources said officials at the prime minister's office were monitoring Mr. Dasmunshi's condition.
