Cong politicising bandh violence: MP CM
Bhopal, Jul 7 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today alleged that the Congress leaders have been 'politicising' violence that took place during Thursday's VHP-sponsored 'Bharat bandh'.
Mr Chouhan said in the Assembly premises that despite the curfew being clamped in, Indore Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh and state President Suresh Pachouri and other Congress leaders were demanding to enter the sensitive areas, which was contrary to the peace restoring process.
''The administration did a good job by stopping them,'' he said, adding that similarly, he expressed his willingness to have a discussion with Leader of the Opposition Jamuna Devi but she was not prepared. Later, she was arrested.
Mr Chouhan said that actually a ''struggle for existence'' was underway among the Congress leaders and hence such activities.
''Common people understand well that such activities cannot benefit them,'' he said.
Chief Minister claimed that all steps for maintaining peace in the state proved successful.
Earlier, Mr Chouhan paid a brief visit to Governor Balram Jakhar.
