8 Lankan refugees housed in Mandapam Special Camp

Ramanathapuram, July 7 (UNI) Eight Sri Lankan Tamils, including a girl child, took refuge in the Special Refugee Camp at Mandapam here today.

Official sources told UNI that the refugees, hailing from Jaffna and Colombo regions of Sri Lanka arrived in Tamil Nadu recently with valid documents.

The refugees registered their names with the camp authorities this evening and were housed at the camp.

There had been heavy influx of Tamil refugees from Sri Lanka for the last couple of months following renewed battle between the Lankan forces and the banned LTTE.
