Punpun, Kosi and Mahananda cross danger mark in Bihar

Patna, Jul 6 (UNI) Three major rivers of Bihar - Punpun, Kosi and Mahananda - crossed the red mark today following the heavy downpour in their catchment areas during the past few days.

According to a release from Central Water Commission, the Punpun was 210 cm above the danger mark at Patna, while the Kosi was seven cm above the red mark at Basua.

The Mahananda was flowing seven cm above the red mark at Dhengraghat and all these three rivers were expected to maintain the rising trend till tomorrow.

The Ganga, Bagmati, Adhwara group of rivers and Kamla Balan were also maintaining rising trend but they were yet to cross the danger mark.

During the past 24 hours, Galgalia recorded 175 mm rain, while Hayaghat, Sonbarsa and Solighat recorded 79 mm, 62 mm and 69 mm respectively.

Meteorologial office predicted moderate to heavy rains in catchment areas of major rivers of the state.
