Monsoon weak over Coastal and North Interior K'taka

Bangalore, July 6 (UNI) Following is a summary of observations recorded by weather office here at 0830 hrs today.

Monsoon was weak over Coastal Karnataka and North Interior Karnataka.

Rainfall occurred at most places over Coastal Karnataka; at a few places over South Interior Karnataka and at isolated places over North INterior Karnataka.

Chief amount of rainfall (cm): Karkala, Sringeri, Agumbe 4 each, Kollur, Siddapura (UDupi), Gerusoppa 3 each, Dharmasthala, Subramanya, Kundapur, Kottigehara, Kammardi, Jayapura 2 each, Mulko, Bajpe, Kota, Ankola, Karwar, Banavasi, Udupi, Saidapur, Bhagamandala, Madikeri, Talaguppa, Sakleshpura, Davanagere 1 each.

Forecast valid until Tuesday morning : Rain/thundershowers likely to occur at most places over Coasal Karnataka; at many places over South Interior Karnataka and at a few places over North Interior Karnataka.

Forecast for Farmers: Moderate to rather heavy rain likely to occur at most places over all the districts of Coastal Karnataka and over Shimoga, Kodagu, Chikmagalur and Hassan districts of South Interior Karnataka. Light to moderate rain likely to occur at a few places over all the districts of North Interior Karnataka and over remaining districts of South Interior Karnataka.

Heavy rainfall warning:Heavy rain likely to occur at isolated places over Coastal Karnataka and ghat areas of South Interior Karnataka during next 48 hours.
