What is the deal behind Congress-SP deal?

{image-venkaih naidu_06072008.jpg news.oneindia.in}Hyderabad, Jul 6: Terming the 'alliance' reportedly forged between Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Congress-led UPA as the result of an ''opportunistic and selfish motive'' to gain political benefits, BJP senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu today took strong exception to SP leader Amar Singh's remarks that ''BJP leader L K Advani was a bigger danger than American President George Bush.'' Addressing the press here, Mr Naidu said ''the SP and Congress have the right to come together. But they should not trap the BJP to cover their self-centred political alliances. The party wants to know the deal between the SP and the Congress for enacting the controversial Indo-US nuclear deal,'' he added.

Alleging that the SP had ''accused'' and ''abused'' the Congress-led UPA till recently on its policies and launched nationwide agitation against the Centre, Mr Venkaiah said the SP and the Congress must explain to the people about their alliance.

Questioning the SP on the reason for raising 'communalism and secularism' issues when the nuclear deal was the main agenda, Mr Naidu said the nuclear deal was in the interests of all religions. There was no link between the deal and secularism, he added. Reiterating that the BJP would renegotiate the nuclear deal if it was voted to power at the Centre, the BJP leader said the party would oppose the deal as it was ''against the interests of the nation.'' ''We already demanded the UPA to seek vote of confidence in Parliamant since it is reduced to minority after the Left parties announced withdrawl of support to the nuke deal,'' Mr Naidu claimed.

The BJP would not forge alliance with the SP or Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and would fight alone in Uttar Pradesh in the coming election.
