{image-rahul gandhi_05072008.jpg news.oneindia.in}New Delhi, Jul 5: AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi ruled out a tie up with a Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh. Rahul who is the MP from Amethi in UP, said he is in favour of Congress going alone in the states.
The Antony Committee report, which was asked to look at the Congress's strategy for the next elections, also suggested the same. SP leader Amar Singh also told that his pary was not looking for an election alliance with Congess in Uttar Pradesh. "In our discussion with Prime Minister and Sonia Gandhi, there was no pressure, blackmail or a deal behind the deal. There was no condition either because we haven't offered anything yet, ".he said.
Samajwadi Party is a force to reckon with in Uttar Pradesh, the home state of the Gandhi-Nehru family. But with General Elections not too far and with Mayawati a dominant presence in UP, both Rahul Gandhi and Amar singh will not find it easy to resist the temptation of striking a deal.
