Rahul Gandhi demands MP CM's resignation
Bhopal, July 5 (UNI) Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi today demanded Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's resignation in view of the communal incidents in this state.
Expressing concern over the violence and tension in the state's commercial capital Indore and some other places, Mr Gandhi said the Chief Minister had no moral right to continue in office.
A delegation led by the Amethi MP met Governor Balram Jakhar at Raj Bhavan this evening and urged him to act in accordance with the Constitution and dispatch a report to the Centre concerning the disturbances.
The Governor assured that he had taken specific action and sought a report from the state government.
The delegation included Union ministers Jyotiraditya Scindia and V Narayanasamy, Congress state President Suresh Pachouri and State Election Campaign Committee Chairman Ajay Singh.
''The Governor was informed of the violence at Indore, Satna and other places and urged to have a probe conducted by a High Court judge. Miscreants indulged in violence at Indore in the presence of administrative officials. Guilty officers should be removed and action taken against them,'' Mr Pachouri said while briefing the press after the meeting.
