IGNOU launches Certificate course in organic farming
New Delhi, Jul 5 (UNI) The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has launched a six-month Certificate course in Organic Farming from this month.
Mr Jiaram Ramesh, Minister of State for Commerce, formally launched this newly developed education programme at a televised function at the IGNOU main campus.
The course has been developed in collaboration with the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) under the Ministry of Commerce.
The main objective of the course was to promote sustainable agriculture by broad-basing and upgrading the knowledge level of the Indian farming Community and also to promote self employment and income generation.
The IGNOU-APEDA Organic Farming programme will be the first such full fledged educational and training programme being offered in the country.
It would be imparted in IGNOU's Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode, aspirants with +2 pass in any part of the country could enroll in it, said an IGNOU spokesman.
