HP Govt. announces holiday on July 20 in Panchayat bypoll areas

Shimla, Jul 5 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh Government has declared July 20 as public holiday in areas of those panchayati raj institutions where bye-elections are scheduled to be held on that day, an official spokesman said.

All government offices, boards, corporations, educational institutions and industrial establishments under the Industrial Dispute Act and shops would remain closed on the that date in the area to enable the voters to exercise their right of franchise.

The spokesman said it would also be a paid holiday for daily wage employees within the meaning of Section 25 of Negotiable Instrument Act 1881.
