Guru's arrest shows CM's vendetta: PMK Supremo
Tiruchirapalli, Jul 5 (UNI) Pattali Makkal Katchi Founder-Leader S Ramadoss today described the arrest of Former Party MLA andVanniyar Sangam President J Guru as an act of political vendetta by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.
Addressing the press here, Dr Ramadoss said whenever Mr Karunanidhi came to the power, he 'foisted' cases against Mr Guru.
He claimed police entered Mr Guru's house at midnight after breaking open the front door and searched the premises without any warrant before arresting him.
Dr Ramadoss said the police slapped false cases on Mr Guru in May this year under Sec 294 (b) but altered it to Sec 307 IPC (Attempt to Murder) when they filed a charge sheet against him on July 3.
He was also declared as absconding.
The PMK Supremo said Mr Guru had no connection with the cases as he was away in his village on the day. He was never an absconder as he used to participate in various functions in Perambalur and Ariyalur districts till yesterday. He wondered how a lower court could issue a Non Bailable Warrant (NBW) against Mr Guru.
He said Mr Guru's adverse remarks against the DMK leaders was the main reason cited by the ruling DMK when the PMK was sent out of the Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA) led by it (DMK).
The PMK would be taking up the arrest with the Union Home Minister for suitable remedy and if necessary, with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and AICC President Sonia Gandhi.
