Ferrous metals ease on poor buying support by stockists

Mumbai, July 5 (UNI) Copper heavy today drifted lower by Rs 300 per quintal and copper, brass and aluminium utensils in ferrous metals dropped by Rs 100 per quintal each on poor buying support by stockists, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange said.

In non-ferrous metal category, copper wire bars, tin slab and nickel cathode edged down while aluminium ingot, zinc slab and lead ingot remained flat on scattered buying by stockists, traders said.

Copper wire bars moved down by Rs 400 and finished at Rs 42,000 on lack of fresh demand.

Tin slab and nickel cathode also saw a downward tredn losing Rs 10 and Rs 25 per kg to close at Rs 1,145 and Rs 1,125 respectively, traders added.

Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: copper heavy - Rs 38,700, copper utensils - Rs 35,200, brass utensils - Rs 25,300, brass cuttings - Rs 27,000 and aluminium utensils - Rs 11,400.

Non-ferrous metals: copper wire bars - Rs 42,000, aluminium ingots - Rs 14,900, zinc slab - Rs 10,000, lead ingots - Rs 10,000, tin slab - Rs 1,145 per kg and nickel cathode - Rs 1,125 per kg.
