2 cops suspended for negligence of duty

Kolhapur, July 5 (UNI) Two policemen from the Ichalkaranji division were suspended today for failing to take prompt action, against a school teacher, who had allegedly shot objectionable photographs of two girl students.

The two cops -- Assistant Sub-Insepctor Ramchandra Bedke and Constable Bapu Sanindre, who were informed about the incident, did not notify the senior officials and tried to settle the matter at their level, failing to take immediate action against the accused, police said.

The teacher, Imran Maula Kalawant was arrested on July two, after he was beaten up, for allegedly shooting objectionable photographs of two girl students using his mobile camera, police said.

After the incident came to light, Kalawant was stripped off his clothes, colours were smeared on him and he was paraded through the town astride a donkey after forcing him to wear a garland of slippers before being handed over to the police.

The incident was severely condemned by all the political parties and NGO's, who demanded action against him.
