UP govt sanctions Rs 496 crore for MEJA, Obra B power units

Lucknow, Jul 4 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government has sanctioned Rs 72 crore and Rs 424 crore for modification and rejuvination of five 200 megawatt units of Obra B power project and 1320 megawatt MEJA power project unit respectively.

Apprising the same, UP energy minister Ramveer Upadhyay today said UP Power Corporation managing director has been directed to speed up the work.

Similarly, 1320 MW capacity NTPC unit has been given Rs 50 crore for power production, he added.

Lauding the UP Chief Minister Mayawati for her developmental works in the state, Mr Upadhyay said taking serious note of power shortage in state Ms Mayawati has taken this initiative.

Besides, the CM has also ordered to establish new power units and modify and rejuvinate the old power plants.
