TTE arrested for pushing a boy from running train

Bhubaneswar, Jul 4 (UNI) Railway Police today arrested one Navaneet Mishra, a TTE, on the charges of pushing a boy from a running train two days back.

Shankar Singh, a 13-year-old boy, a resident of Vedavyas slum colony, lost his right hand and leg after he was pushed out from the Mumbai-Howarah Geetanjai Express for a Rs 50 note on last Wednesday.

As per Police Shankar got a Rs 50 note while sweeping a second class compartment of the Mumbai-Howarah Geetanjali Express at the Rourkela station.

The TT on duty claimed that the note belonged to him and demanded the boy to return it to him.

When Shankar refused, the TT allegedly pushed him from the train.

Shankar was first admitted to Government hospital and then shifted to Ispat General Hospital, Rourkela.

After incident hundreds of local people, led by Janakalyan Pratisthan president Narendra Tripathy, a former Rourkela Muncipality Chairman held a demonstration in front of the railway station demanding action against the TT.

The GRP registered a case u/s 336 (causing and endangering human life) 337 (Causing simple injury) 338 (causing grievious injury) of the I Pc based on a complaint made by Station Superintendent Himanshu Kar.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had announced an assistance of Rs one lakh from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for his treatment.
