Social Welfare ministry to appoint teachers

Bangalore, July 4 (UNI) Karnataka Social Welfare Minister D Sudhakar today said that the department had planned to recruit at least 9000 teachers on contract basis to improve the academic standards of the students in its hostels.

Speaking to reporters here he said the department would appoint the part-time teachers for teaching mathematics, science and English to the students belonging to SC, ST and Backward Classes and minority communities.

The department for the first time would also conduct the regular monthly tests for monitoring the academic progress of the students staying in about 3000 hostels across the state, he said.

He said the government was planning in the next four years to construct its own buildings for about 600 hostels which are now located in rented buildings.

The minister also announced the suspension of officer P R Pandurangappa from Kolar for misappropriation of funds to the tune of Rs 1.48 crore.
