SC Mathur takes oath as Assam Governor

Guwahati, Jul 4(UNI) Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Shiv Charan Mathur was today sworn in as Assam Governor by acting Chief Justice Aftab Hussain Saikia of Gauhati High Court.

Mr Mathur became the first Governor to take the oath publicly in a public hall as the glitterati of the city as well as high ranking civil and police officials of the state government were present on the occasion.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and almost the entire ministry were present at the function along with leader of the Opposition Chandra Mohan Patowary.
