APSRTC employees would resort to two-day strike from July 19

Hyderabad, Jul 4 (UNI) Employees of the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC), affiliated to the National Mazdoor Union (NMU), will resort to a two-day strike from July 19 to press their demands, including regularisation of contract drivers and conductors and abolition of the contract system.

National Mazdoor Union(NMU) President Nageswara Rao told UNI that the union served a notice to the management today. The union would resort to a two-day strike initially, but if the management failed to concede their demands, they would go for an indefinite strike, he added.

Mr Rao said the strike notice was given to APSRTC Executive Director BSR Murthy. The union members also met Corporation Chairman M Satyanarayana Rao, he added.

The Union was demanding the regularisation of 12,500 contract drivers and conductors and 1500 casual drivers and conductors and abolition of the contractual system in the Corporation.
