Youth died due to consumption of 'Kanabiz Indica': FSL report

Surat, Jul 3 (UNI) Forensic investigations have revealed that consumption of ''Kanbiz Indica'', along with alcohol, was the reason for the death of a cloth merchant's son in the city last February.

Police sources here said BJP leader late Pramod Mahajan's son Rahul Mahajan had consumed this prohibited drug, and the affluent class here shows an inclination for it.

Abdulla Patel and Jaffar Gohi, both residents of Nishan Society, Rander, were found unconscious in their car at Chowpathy in Dumas Road on February 10. They were taken to Lokhat Hospital, where Abdulla was declared dead by doctors, while Jaffar was later shifted to the Civil hospital.

Umra Police, who were investigating the case, found white powder in a paper pouch, which was sent to FSL for inspection alongwith the visera found from the body. The FSL submitted its reports, stating that Abdulla's death has caused due to over-consumption of 'Kanabiz Indica' along with alcohol.

Police sources said when Jaffar was shifted to New Civil Hospital, he confessed that he along with Abdulla, incensed the powder, kept in currency notes, through nose.

Acting on the confession, the police registered a complaint against Jaffar.

Police said that on the basis of FSL reports, investigation will be initiated and action taken against the culprits.
