RPG to set up thermal power station in Bihar

Kolkata, Jul 3 (UNI) The Rs 13,500 crore city-based RPG group today signed an MoU with Nalanda Power Co Ltd and Bihar State Electricity Board to set up a thermal power station in Bihar.

The MoU was signed by BSEB member R K Sharma, NPCL Director Prabir Neogi and an RPG official.

After the signing of the MoU, Mr Neogi hoped the deal would augur well for the betterment of power generation and distribution in Bihar with expertisement of the RPG.

The RPG is a flagship company of Goenka group and owned Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation serving more than two million consumers in Kolkata.

The RPG also serves Greater Noida through Noida Power Cm Ltd.

CESC currently has a generatin capacity of about 1000 mw with three generating stations amongst India's top ten power stations.

The third unit at Budge Budge (250 mw) now under construction will be ready for commissioning by mid 2009.
