Mah: Reservation for minorities in housing schemes

Mumbai, Jul 3: Maharashtra government proposes to implement reservation for minorities in various housing schemes.

Speaking after inaugurating a workshop on ''Mainstreaming Minorities Towards an Inclusive Development Agenda'' here, Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh said suitable amendments will be made in the Maharashtra Housing Area Development Authority rules to enforce the same.

The workshop was organised by the Minorities Development Department. Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil and Animal Husbandry Minister Anees Ahmed also attended the workshop.

Mr Deshmukh noted that Maharashtra was the first state to establish the Minority Welfare Department and reserve a fund of Rs 100 crore for the same.
