RAF deployed in sensitive Jammu areas
Jammu, Jul 3 (UNI) Anti-riot specialist Rapid Action Force (RAF) were deployed today to meet the turbulent situation in Jammu city, where curfew has been imposed to prevent protest demonstrations against the revocation of diversion of forest land to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB).
In view of intensified protest demonstrations by people at several places in the city and outskirt areas under the aegis of Saffron parties, the Central government had dispatched four companies of RAF to Jammu.
''While one company of RAF landed here last night, rest arrive here via rail and road routes,'' official sources said.
Nearly 600 RAF jawans will be deployed at sensitive location in Jammu city to maintain law and order, the source added.
