Nedumbassery airport introduces APIS system
Kochi, Jul 3 (UNI) The emigration wing of the international airport at Nedumbassery, near here, was strengthened with the introduction of the Advanced Passenger Information System (APIS).
Talking to newspersons here today, Emigration Superintendent of Police V G Babu said the system would provide details of the passengers arriving to the city by various flights from other countries as soon as a flight had left for Kochi.
With this, the emigration personnel would get sufficient time to cross-check the background of the passengers and take appropriate action, if necessary, he added.
At least 850 people, who tried to leave the country without proper travel documents, were detained in the last six months, he said, adding the emigration wing had also arrested six passengers, who were on the list of Look Out Circular (LOC).
