Land Ports Authority to be set up: Cabinet

New Delhi, Jul 3 (UNI) The government today decided to set up Land Ports Authority of India for construction, management and maintenance of integrated check posts on the land borders for regulation of trade and transit.

A Bill, Land Ports Authority of India Bill, 2008, would be introduced in Parliament for this purpose, Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi told reporters.

The decision was taken at the weekly Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
